Next Sunday’s texts are: II Samuel 11:26—12:13a; Psalm 51:1-12; Ephesians 4:1-16; John 6:24-35.
“Walking The Talk” is a good title for understanding the ethical and moral lessons contained in next weekend’s readings. We are prone to turn walking into mere talking, when the opposite challenge is to make sure that we walk as we talk, live as we pray and behave as we say we believe. In II Samuel 11:26-12:13a, David’s intolerable sins of adultery and murder are candidly uncovered and displayed before the world. David is God’s chosen one.

Won’t you lend a helping hand to those who need it? Remember Jesus’s direction that he gave us regarding caring for each other. “…for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me. Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?' And the king will answer them, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me --Matt.25:35-40 (NRSV)
